As a teacher, I commit to practicing non-harm in all my interactions. I will uphold the principles of kindness, compassion, and respect toward all beings, striving to prevent harm to students, the community, and myself.

2. Truthfulness (Sacca)

I commit to speaking truthfully and with integrity. In my teaching, I will present the Dharma with honesty, avoiding exaggeration or misrepresentation. I will be transparent about my qualifications and experience, avoiding false claims or pretence.

3. Sexual Ethics and Boundaries

I will maintain clear, appropriate, and professional boundaries with all students. I understand the potential for imbalance in the teacher-student relationship and will avoid any form of sexual or romantic involvement with students. I will refrain from exploiting this relationship for personal gratification.

4. Integrity in Finances and Resources

I will manage financial matters with integrity. I will avoid misusing organizational funds or exploiting students financially. I will maintain transparency in all financial transactions related to my role as a teacher, and I will ensure that any donations or resources are used for their intended purposes.

5. Respect for Boundaries

I will respect the personal, physical, and emotional boundaries of students and fellow community members. I will refrain from inappropriate behavior or unwanted physical contact. I will honor the dignity of every individual and be mindful of power dynamics within the teacher-student relationship.

6. Accountability and Transparency

I am accountable for my actions and decisions as a teacher. I will engage in regular peer reviews and be open to feedback. If conflicts or grievances arise, I will participate fully in ethical reviews or mediation processes, striving to resolve issues with honesty and humility.

7. Avoiding Intoxicants

I commit to avoiding the use of intoxicants, such as alcohol or drugs, that lead to heedlessness. I will remain clear and present in my teaching and interactions, fostering mindfulness and ethical clarity.

8. Respect for the Community (Sangha)

I will treat every member of the community with kindness, respect, and patience. I will work to create a harmonious environment within the Sangha, resolving conflicts through compassionate and skillful means. I will be respectful and mindful of the cultural, spiritual, and personal diversity within the community.

9. Commitment to Continuous Learning and Practice

I commit to deepening my understanding and practice of the Dharma. I will regularly engage in meditation, study, and ethical reflection. I recognize that teaching is a privilege that requires ongoing personal growth, and I will seek guidance when necessary.

10. Confidentiality and Privacy

I will maintain the confidentiality of all private or personal information shared by students. I will safeguard students’ personal details and respect the privacy of any spiritual or emotional matters discussed in a teaching setting.

11. Avoiding Exploitation of Power

I will remain mindful of the influence that comes with being a teacher and avoid using this influence to manipulate or exploit others for personal gain, whether financially, emotionally, or otherwise. I will serve with humility and seek to empower students in their spiritual development.
