Rev. Christie Bates is a writer, retreat facilitator, Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Dharmacharya (Minister) of the Embracing Simplicity Contemplative Order ordained by Venerable Pannavati and the late Venerable Pannadipa, who named her Passatininna. Since 2009 she facilitated groups and embedded contemplative programming in residential treatment centers, addressing various forms of addiction (including codependency and family recovery – which are not synonymous!) and was a founding member of Buddhist Recovery groups in Nashville TN, US and the surrounding area. A great deal of her work is centered around Brainspotting, a finely tuned mindfulness practice. In recent years she relocated to Oxford MS, US in support of her family and founded Deep South Dharma. Christie has developed The Beautiful Human App, which offers education, support, and training in developing the 10 Pāramī for Buddhist Recovery from disordered eating, chronic dieting, and body image obsession around size, ability and/or appearance. The app is centered around her ebook/audio course, “The Beautiful Human: Contemplative Wisdom for Moving Beyond Diet Culture to Create a Life of Real and Lasting Beauty.” She is also the author of a work in her “other language” of contemplative Christianity called “Accepting Your Resurrection: Reclaiming the Word that Restores Eternal Life “
