Steven Tierney, Ed.D. LPPC has been a practicing Buddhist for nearly three decades and has been in recovery from addiction for 22 years. Steven is an ordained Buddhist priest in the Soto Zen lineage of Suzuki Roshi. Steven has been teaching on topics of meditation, mindfulness, addiction and mental health for more than 20 years. A recently retired professor of counseling psychology, Steven maintains a private psychotherapy practice in San Francisco focusing on addiction and trauma recovery.
One of Steven’s favorite teachings is “Drishta dharma sukha viharin” a Sanskrit phrase which means, “dwelling happily in things as they are”.
